DBA’s have you examined yourself lately?

Interesting Database Certification article based on a survey taken from Job Board ad numbers that provide some perspective on the demand for database certification.

Best Database Certifications 2018 By Ed Tittel and Kim Lindros, Business News Daily Contributing Writers.

According to the article, Microsoft certification demand was number 1 based on Job Board ads. Nice!

The article also states “…SimplyHired reports $85,330 as the national average for database administrators … Glassdoor’s average is somewhat higher at $89,626”.

As I have written about before, my SQL Server database certifications were a personal atta boy. I did not realize pay increases for most of the Microsoft certifications I earned. However, listing Microsoft certifications on your resume might help you land that job you really want.

For the record, here is the RetiredDBA.com SQL Server exam and Microsoft certification totals:
17 exams
5 active certifications: MCSE, MCSA(2012/14), MCIP(2012), MCTS(2008), MCP
5 legacy certifications: MCIT (2005), MCTS (2005), MCDA (2000), MCP, MCP+

As a bonus, Microsoft certification exams and materials were reimbursed by some of my past employers. When you are deciding on a company for employment, don’t forget to ask the interviewers about reimbursement of certification materials and certification importance.
