These are my top 3 pieces of advice to SQL Server 3rd party vendors
- Understand why you are getting so many helpdesk tickets
- Reply to helpdesk tickets
- Commit to a date to fix helpdesk tickets
SQL Server 3rd party vendors really need to review their entire customer service chain. From what I have experienced, it should not be acceptable. I can rattle off a couple of 3rd party SQL Server vendors with so many unresolved issues that my DBA teams had to drop the 3rd party vendors.
Many large 3rd party vendors have been merging with other 3d party vendors and that has made the problem a bigger sore point. I can’t imagine those SQL Server 3rd party vendors will be around much longer.
