Blog covers all things for Microsoft SQL Server

Hey DBAs… Are you a slacker?

Here’s my notes from the webinar ‘Dear SQL DBA: Training Resources for SQL Noobs’ by Kendra Little

According to Little’s webinar weblink, “I’m linking to free resources for learning SQL Server here. … we’re talking about freebies …. free things that may be useful to beginners.”

This webinar is worth watching just for the list of free SQL Server resources.

One free resource Little discussed was a slack channel for SQL Server professionals. This is a cool resource especially if you are logged into slack most of the day to keep in touch with your internal company teams and activities.

Here’s how to join the SQL Server Community slack channel.

  • Cut and paste in your browser, https://sqlcommunity.slack.com
  • Login to slack or create a new slack login if you don’t already have one.
  • Then click on #sqlhelp

If you listen to the webinar, Little also discusses a slack channel for all her live webinars.

If you never used slack, the slack website states “Slack is the collaboration hub that brings the right people together with all the right information and tools to get work done. …. use Slack to connect their teams, unify their systems, and drive their business forward.”.

Slack is a resource needed in your DBA toolbox.
